Just curious as to why people play in the ladders. From reading the rules, it seems to take quite a bit of time. I've looked at some of the ladders, and didn't see any $$ incentives. Is it simply to see if you're the best? I'd be interested to know why you play in the ladders.

I can't speak for everyone but I do it for the fun . Been playing in leagues of one sort or another for 10 yrs now. Started back with Mech Warriors on dial up . The hitscan weapons then you had to lead a good inch on the monitor. Those were the days.

I enjoy a good practice with quality people more so at times then the quality of game you get in open play. Not that we all wern't nobs once, but sometimes I just get sick of squashing "Player".

I never get sick of squashing player. I just get sick of being squashed by player, and even the best player gets squashed by player once in a while.

It's also the strategy, the tactics, the planning, the delivery and seeing it all come together. Once in awhile you can get something going on public servers but it's mostly do what you can and listen to anyone with an incling of an idea, there's other fun with that. It's a different game.

When you're with team mates, you work together as a team, you get to know how to complement each other, and you're more aware of the entire map.

It's like asking someone who plays sports in a league the difference between playing in the schoolyard and with his team. They're both fantastic in their own way but both practically different sports altogether.

The game is different, and most people who play games well and enjoy them well play more than one.

so many reasons to play one, so many reasons to play the other.

Candylick - your analogy with the sports leagues vs. pickup games makes a lot of sense to me. I think I'm beginning to understand.
