The site asks for your age and I stupidly put my actual b-day in there.... now it won't let me undo it! Gah! I like your avatar too, KK. I prefer mine (I love Calvin) and the only one that could top it would be Calvin in a viking helmet =D

Thank you, aLpHa...and Zax. :colors: And thanks to Hornet for finding the image!
And I, too, am in the same minimalistic hardware boat....it won't stop me from buying the game though...it will undoubtedly spur me on to building a better machine, but I don't know how soon I can do that as yet...so we're all basically holding our collective breaths.....but still those are some very nice grooves...updated or otherwise. :)

I added up the parts for my dream machine up at New Egg and I can build it for 1200.00...too bad I dont have 1200.00! :cussing:
Hopefully though I'll be able to play with what I have!

My computer could (more than likely) play UT3. Time will tell, but it's supposed to be getting water cooling here in a bit, maybe, so we'll see.

My worry right now is that my machine couldn't fully run Bioshock. It gave me an error about not having shader v. 3.0 and something else that wasn't 3.0. It ran the game, but it wasn't functional at the menu screen.
If UT3 is based on the same engine, and obviously supposed to be a prettier game, I am thinking my AGP 9800 pro is not going to cut it since it does not have HD or shader 3.0 (mine is v 2.0 i think)
As far as a basic, cheap gaming rig that would run it, check out
http://www.sharkyextreme.com/guides/MVG ... hp/3697556 This is a "value" gaming rig buyer's guide with a $1,000 budget, and if you already have an lcd screen and speakers, the cost goes down to like 800ish. They also have an "extreme" and "high-end" buyer's guide as well, with a $4,000 and $2,500 budget each respectively.
Tell me if I'm wrong

I'm stuck with AGP, but I think this card would work fine with Bio Shock or UT3...wont need a new power supply either! Now my processor is just above the recommended requirements. P4 2.6...BS needs 2.4

UE3 supports SM2 (I dunno about b/c or whatever, though). BioShock simply decided not to support SM2 cards.
