Just purchased some teflon tape from mousetape.com. I got 5 1"x8.5" strips shipped for $10. Using some careful cutting, I think that this will last my mx518 several years, even if I change tape weekly, and I know I won't.

So far so good. It is pretty slick. We will see how it hold up. However, I also use a ghetto mouse pad made up of parchment paper. Looks like crap, but works very well.

I just got the steelseries s&s for my mx518...the teflon feet rock and the mousemat does too! Highly recommened but might wanna nudge the mouse sens down a bit

Zeus your parchment paper is counteracting the mouse feet you already have.

Nope, it is providing a very smooth, even surface. And the mouse tracks over it well, vs. just using the drawer.

If i use a mouse pad, then I am slowed down. Plus, most mouse pads are small compared to the 15" or so of space I use now.

I don't understand how people play with such low sens :| i have about 10cm for a full 360, plus mouse accel so i could do it in about 5 if i needed

Depends on which kind of parchment paper we're talking about...

The kind that you use for writing on and making fine documents is a bit rough.

The kind you buy to wrap things in for baking or lining cookie sheets is actually pretty smooth.

I'm guessing, Zeus, that you have the latter.

Yeah, parchment paper comes in a roll in cooking aisles with aluminum foil, saran wrap, etc. You use it mostly in baking purposes. The page I originally saw the idea on used wax paper.
I may to give that a try sometime. It would provide a different surface.

The only problem with the parchment paper is that it picks up oil and sweat off of my wrist pretty easily, so you have to replace it.

The surface of my table is actually really slick. I would use that, and I have, except that the optics does not pick up of the grain of the wood correctly, so it does not track very well.
