I've noticed lack in custom skins on this server so heres a guide I made for you guys. So anyways, I don't know if you guys don't know how to get them or you just like the stock models better. But incase you didn't know how to get them I have taken the time to put this guide together on how to get custom skins into your game.
1. First you need to know where to get skins. Here I have a few links to where you could get some. ::SkinCity::
And this is the UT2004 section for File Front. You need to click on the skins or models section to find skins and models. FileFront UT04 section
2. Now that we have some sites to work with, lets download those skins. So what you need to do is first of all find a skin or model you like, download it, then put the right files into the right folder. Usually after you download the file you will find folders labeled Animation, System, Textures, and maybe Karma or Static Meshes. Incase there is no readme file and the files aren't placed in folders, .ukx files are for animation, u. and upl. are for System, .utx is Textures, .ka is Karma, and .usx are Static Meshes. Right now your probably wondering how to get to your UT04 Folder aren't you? Well to do that you don't right click the UT04 icon and click properties then Find target. Thats a no no. That just brings you to the system folder where the icon is located. So to see all the folders if you don't already know, simply find the drive you istalled the game to (ex. C Drive, D Drive, X, W, F, Drive etc.) and the folder named UT04 (unless you named it differently when you installed the game.) Should be there. You click on it then you see all the folders named Animations, Benchmark, Cache, ForceFeedback, Help, Karma, etc. Once you have your downloaded skin file open just simply drag and drop the files to the folder it corresponds with (ex. ukx to Animation). After you have done that you can open up UT04 and when you go to the Player tab in the Setting menu you can find your newly downloaded skin sitting in there like nothing happend.
I hope this guide helps you get those skins in becuase there are hundreds out there that are great. You can be Master Chief, Sonic, Weird Aliens, Your favorite video game character, the possibilities are endless. Good luck and enjoy! Oh by the way, I made this guide so if you are gonna use it on another site please ask permission first.
* I will be adding pictures and updating/beefing up the guide so its more explanitory and easier to understand. I'll probably come around to it tomorrow or the day after because its late now.
