I think patch 3369 sucks and would not recommend it to anyone. Stay at 3339 or 3355.

Two issues.
1. There are some nasty server exploits out there. It can crash a server, AND all of the clients attached to that server. 3369 protects you against that.
2. At some point, Epic said they were going to remove 3339 servers from the whitelist. I don't know if that's true or not (as it's been 2 months now) but I can't afford to be off the whitelist.

I don't think it was the whitelist actually, it was far worse for 3339 servers. Whitelisting is just related to mods and the "standard server" designation, what Epic was going to do was not publish them on the master server period. Any 3339 servers or earlier would simply vanish and be unplayable if they weren't already in your favorites or you wrote down the IP as the master server wouldn't show them to players when they did a browse for currently running games.. That's what they said anyways back when 3369 came out, I haven't heard that this has actually been done at this point in time so who knows if it ever will be.ToxicWaste wrote:At some point, Epic said they were going to remove 3339 servers from the whitelist. As for 3355, that is simply not an option for larger player count ONS servers. 3355 has been proven to increase server CPU usage for these large scale servers around 15% - 20% over the same setup running 3339, and that means very bad server-side lag. Titan and Cains showed this to be the case over many painful lag-full weeks of testing. I never had close to the traffic Titan or DW gets on my server and it still caused a noticable spike when it got moderately full when 3355 was the version running. So your options are 3339 or 3369, and I haven't noticed any severe problems with the newest one to warrant going backwards. Given that you are also quite correct about some of the nasty server crash exploits out there that 3369 protects against, I wouldn't recommend changing back to an older version anytime soon.
