This subject is too clumsy for a poll, so I thought I would just throw it out there.
I never thought I would say this, but I'm thinking I may not even get UT3 on the day it comes out. If I do, it would only be to test any servers we put up.
I'm pretty dissapointed with what I saw in the demo, and I think Epic has a lot of fixing to do. I think they will make things right eventually, But it will take probably until after the first of the year. Of course this is all dependent upon the needed changes to server hosting (which Steve Poldge has stated in the admin list that they have...vaguely...but he said it). Because without that, all hope is lost.
But with that, I thought maybe we could talk about some other games you might like to see us host. We'll be rolling out the Chicago server soon with a fat pipe and CPU to burn. Damnidge, I think you have a good knowledge of what else is out there. Maybe you could take a little time and link us to demos and give your take to get the ball rolling.
Hang in there everyone. I think UT3 will be good eventually. But my advice to anyone who hasn't upgraded yet (including myself) is to wait and ask Santa for stuff, and grab Christmas deals. That way all the new vid cards will be out, Phenom will be out (albeit at a slower clock speed than anticipated), and like always, prices for tech will come down.

What about COD 4? I havent seen any complaints about that demo.
Crysis looks good except that an uber pc is needed to play it, and 12 gb of HD space

I thought the UT3 feel and game play were great, almost like a UT99-2. However, the server browser was god-awful and must be brought to UT 2004 levels. I sure hope that Epic did that for the Gold or they'll have just shot themselves in the foot.

- - I've been playing some CoD myself --Not bad .. Much better than what those fellas from Epic gave us ..
I'll post some games now, and then as time arises or I think of more I'll post again.
First thing is I figure we want to stick to FPS games, correct? FPS is definitely my favorite gametype, and the main type I play. If RTS and others are in consideration, then people like Cheapshot (who plays C&C I believe) could chip in as well. Also, Hornet has experience with TF2, and I asked for the orange box for my b-day next week, so I hopefully can chip in on that soon.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Price Range = around $49.99
The first one I was really impressed with from the demo is COD4, which MerSenary mentioned. A link to the file is here:
http://files.filefront.com/Call+of+Duty ... einfo.html
The demo is for the single player campaign, but if the graphics, game play, and weapons are any indication, I think multiplayer will rock. For those of you that like Monsters, it seems to have a little RPG style element to it where you work with classes. I took this from wikipedia:
For multiplayer, it has been confirmed that Call of Duty 4 will include a class system which has five preset classes with default weapon load outs and perks assigned to them as well as allows users to create five custom classes where the user can customize their weapon load out and three perks to assign to their soldier. The five default classes include Assault, Spec Ops, Light Machine Gunner, Demolitions, and Sniper class. Create a class will be unlocked when the user gains enough Experience Points (XP), earned by killing his/her opponent, and becomes a Private (level 4), and will increase rank with more XP earned. XP will also vary depending on the type of match the user is playing. Only two of the classes are available to a first time player; the rest are unlocked as the player gains more experience online and gains higher rank. The highest level is 65.[6], which unlocks Prestige mode. In Prestige mode, the player can trade in all of their rank, and start over at level 1, in exchange for a special in-game insignia by their name. [7] The player can trade in their rank and start over at level 1 up to ten times, with the prestige insignia changing each time, effectively giving the player 715 total ranks.[8] Players can save and name their custom classes for quick access in multiplayer matches. Most of the new weapons and perks that players can use to outfit their custom class will be unlocked as they gain experience ranks, but there are also a separate number of challenges associated with each weapon that will subsequently open up new add-on gear as players complete them.
Game Modes
* Free-for-All - Every man for himself.
* Team Deathmatch - Use teamwork to kill opposing players and reach score limit.
* Team Objective - Domination and Search & Destroy. Capture flags in Domination, with respawning. Destroy and defend objectives in Search & Destroy, no respawning.
* Team Tactical - Small team Deathmatch and Search & Destroy.
* Capture the Flag - Try to steal the enemy's flag and return it to your base.
* Search and Destroy - Much like Counter-Strike's bomb planting mode, there are two teams: attackers and defenders. Attackers try to plant a bomb at one of two bomb sites, and defenders try to defend the bomb sites. If explosives are planted, defenders must defuse them. Players only have one respawn per round. A round is over when all players on one team are killed, or when the bomb explodes or is defused.
* Headquarters - A radio spawns somewhere on the map. Your goal is to capture the radio for your team. If Team A captures the radio, they must defend it from being destroyed by Team B. Team A will only have one respawn until the radio is destroyed or the max time limit for the radio is reached. Team B will respawn at set intervals. Team A earns points for every second the radio is held. To capture/destroy a radio, you must stand in the area of the radio. The more players, the faster you destroy it. A new radio spawns when time limit is reached or the radio is destroyed.
* Domination - There are flags at certain points around the map. All flags start neutral. Teams battle to hold the most flags. Game ends when the time limit is reached, or the score limit is reached.
* Sabotage - Similar to Search and Destroy, only the bomb is neutral and there are objectives located in both teams' bases. Each team's goal is to take the bomb and blow up the objective in the enemy's base. The bomb carrier can fire his weapons, but his position will be announced periodically throughout the game. Also, unlike Search and Destroy, players will have unlimited respawns as opposed to just one per round.
* Team Hardcore - Hardcore Team Deathmatch and Search and Destroy. Limited HUD, extra bullet damage, friendly fire on.
* Old School - Old School TDM and FFA. No classes. Weapons are pickups, health is increased, and jumps are higher.
* Oldcore - Old School pick-ups and jumping. Hardcore limited HUD and extra bullet damage. TDM.
* Ground War - Big team games-TDM and Domination.

Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. Price Range = $9.99 -$19.99
Ok, so I have to put a pitch in for Red Orchestra - the stand-alone game - because I play this almost as much as UT. I'll keep it brief, but it's mission is to be as realistic as possible. All maps are assault style, where one side is trying to capture and hold positions, and the other is trying to prevent and/or recapture. The game play also has little things that make strategy important. For example, as your character runs, he becomes tired and will start to become out of breath, so you'll have to take breaks. Kills and injuries are realistic. One shot to the chest or head and you die. If you get hit on your extremities, it affects you running and walking if it is a leg, and it affects aim if it is your arm, for example.
Users have to be patient and like realistic gameplay. Sometimes as sniper when I am located or caught behind enemy lines, I will have to crawl for 2-3 minutes to reestablish positon. It is definitely not a game like Medal of Honor where you can run into a room of 2 or 3 enemies and take at least one out before dyining. People take this game seriously. If you run into a room with 2-3 people, chances are someone got their six and your dead before you see all of them. If you only like spray and pray arcade style WWII games, this one is not for you. You have to use "iron sights" and look down your gun, and you can lean onto buildings, the ground, etc. to steady your gun.
Steam has been running free demo periods this past year where you can dl the whole game and it works for 10 days. I'll see if that i still the case.
The other option would be to load and run the last mod for UT2004, and then everyone could get a basic feel for the game. I say basic, only because the stand-alone version they cleaned up all the major bugs, and the graphics are simply much nicer.
There are also multiple vehicles based on the time period. Tanks require adjustment for meterage, etc.

FEAR Multiplayer
Yes it is total spray and pray, and yes it is not the best thing in the world, but it is free and good to kill an hour here or there. I have fun with it, maybe others will too?

Medal of Honor Allied Assault Series. Price Range= $9.99 at Fry's
Last time I was at Fry's I saw MOH:AA and the two expansions, Spearhead and Breakthrough, for $9.99 along with two other EA games as a bundle.
Link:
http://files.filefront.com/Medal+Of+Hon ... einfo.html
This game is a lot of fun. The graphics are old and outdated, and the movement is not all that graceful at times, but in my opinion that fact that servers still are going and people still are playing gives testament to how fun it can be.
This is an arcade style game where you select the weapon you want, and then run around killing people.
There are single and multiplayer demos out there for this game.

Cheers, Damnidge
I too was gonna hold off as well, but after seeing more of the "warfare" and single player mode here:
http://pc.ign.com/articles/832/832561p1.html
I've decided to go ahead and buy the game itself, keep what Ive got computer wise, and upgrade over the next few months as deals come out and prices come down.
Im running an older amd 64 x2 3800, 7800gt, and only 1g ram, but I never played ut on the Highest settings anyway. Server playability will still remain to be seen.

I think the new Enemy Territory rocks.
A pretty steep learning curve; it's going to take me a long time to figure out all the classes and all the weapons. But that's a good thing.
