Ok i need some help. I think it might be a spyware, adware or maybe a virus. Everytime i use Explorer i keep having sites that advertize Spyware removers or virus scans. Its slowing down my computer alot. I have run two diffrent types of virus/spyware scanners with no success. I have used Symantec Endpoint Protection and McAfee Security Center. Also my task manager will not open. Its driving me crazy, i cant do anything on my computer. Can some one help me. PLEASE!!

I've always liked Panda Scan. I think it's the best free scanner.

It will not remove spyware however. And of course, will not protect you against anything new.

Here's a free, highly rated locally installed full time scanner.

Well bud, here's a virus protection you can download that's from my school. Go to the Keep it Clean section located to the bottom right. I use it on my PC at home and it works great.

Hey Army!

In addition to Ad-Aware, I also use SpyBot. They seem to compliment one another...as sometimes one will find things the other doesn't. Panda is good too.! :)

Also, I tossed out Symantec and McAfee stuff years ago and have been using AVG (free!!!) for a long time with great success.

Hope you get back on track!

I run into this alot. First of all don't run 2 antivirus together, they can mess each other up. First thing I do when people hand me over a computer in your situation is I run CCleaner on it. B/c it is fast and effective. Spybot S&D it, and then if it is still acting up Adaware. Then I get all their data that they need off and back it up. Next is I wipe it. Always. I never feel like I actually got it all. If you don't want to do a wipe then, get rid of those other 2 antivirus and go with AVG free 8.0. After a wipe, immediately install windows updates (get SP3 now). Then I install Avg 8.0, MVP Host file, CCleaner, Search and Destroy. And I am happy.

Google anything I listed.

I used Symantec alot but since it didnt prevent and didnt not find the problem i uninstalled it and then ran the second program. Thanks for the help everyone. Very fast help and very use full.
