1on1 mixer
lol calm down....
But I do like the old one better. Maybe if the new one patches up the roof (Specially the smeared skybox) and made the new hiding spots more risky, I'll change my opinion.

The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.

Tiraktor submitted it, and I know its a bit easy, but for awhile it will be here.
. . . . . . . .I think I hear the sounds of a happy player posting in the Spam Vikings forum, I think you need to investigate Hornet, and put a stop to that.....hurry, .... hurry... before he posts....

You see your comparing a great, thought out game type that is onslaught, to a bag full of mutators that were pseudo randomly placed on the server, furthermore with pseudo random ideas of where those settings should be. A happy player on spam vikings is far more likely when the generic theme the server has been lets make things easier, in every way possible.
Hurry..... Hurry.... You haven't destroyed enough yet!

TBH I think the new version was a change for the worse as well. The edits turned the map from being "Mixer" into being Dome/Arena/Cube/AdrenWhatever v.54. In other words, made it exactly like every other map already on the server and the map lost its unique identity.
do any of my maps fall into that all encompassing description of maps? lol jp...but seriously, i have not had the pleasure of playing the new version of mixer to ill hold any comments on that :)WailofSuicide wrote:The edits turned the map from being "Mixer" into being Dome/Arena/Cube/AdrenWhatever v.54. I just caught a few waves, and the phrase 'don't fix what ain't broke' came to mind pretty quickly. As Wail says, it's just like every other map now. It's also got several bugs (especially that horrible skybox!)
I believe this map has really been reduced in it's playability. It went from being a will we survive to lets just hide. If it were changed I would have gone the other direction because there are so few of the old style maps left. winning has become synonymous with joining the game. I really don't like that approach and I find myself drifting from a really good game type. I'm sorry but joining is not the same as surviving and getting to luci which is what this map and many others have become.

No shame, no dishonor, will run away to fight another day!

Sometimes a map is put up to encourage a new person who is just starting out with mapping, to allow them to see what they do and how it affects things, and hopefully it may encourage them to try again. We can't expect someone who is new and tinkering to do a masterpiece anytime soon. By not putting it up, I would think it would just discourage future mappers from wanting to try. Thats is why I put it up for awhile.
I took it off. Happy now?
