Nvidia just released an update to it's Forceware driver suite. Most of the driver updates includes the following:

- 17-37% increase in performance on some games.
- H.264 acceleration for GeForce 6/7 series cards (HD video streams).
- Various bug fixes.

Before you update your drivers please read this.

Thanks for the info! I have been keeping an open eye on Nvidia stuff, as the greatness that is the new 7900GT is getting me excited. Just wish my x850xt supported pixelshader 3.0, so I would not have this great urge to get a new toy.

No problem. When I was in the market for a new card I was impressed with ATI's Radeon X series image quality but their poor driver support led me to Nvidia. With Nvidia’s unified driver and full Linux support, they were the logical next step. Although before I went with the geforce 6800 I used to be a big proponent of Matrox (due to my professional background). The reason for the switch was mainly OS support. It took Matrox almost 2 years provide any real Linux support for their Parhelia series video cards. At the time it was so bad that 1700+ users in the community started an online petition for hardware support. This and among other things is the primary reason for moving to a different manufacturer.

As for image quality, the Parhelia blows anything Nvidia and ATI offers out of the water. Sure the card is slow compared to the current offerings on the market, but the card is still impressive with its feature rich design.

I don't know if you guys have ever used them, but the XG drivers from http://www.tweaksrus.com are *fantastic*... I saw literally a 200 point jump in 3dMark05 over the stock driver and UT looked like a different game (greater depth of field, smoother textures, etc). Currently using their tweaked "84.21 v.2" driver, out of sight awesome, and stable for me. /shameless plug. ;)

That's news to me. I'll definitely look into the modified drivers. Thanks for the heads up!
