*new* MM unbreakable trans

The Monster Mash Translocator: it doesn't care if you nuke it, flush it down the toilet, accidentally toss it in lava, or let your friends tap dance on it... it keeps on working.
Bio was kind enough to whip up an unbreakable trans last night when I asked him whether it was possible to do after hearing for the umpteenth time about "Who was on my trans?" etc. etc. Since the players are more ethereal in regards to each other, standing on a trans while a player is using it should be allowable since we have it set up that you can run through players and monsters.
Tonight, we will be trying it out on server 2. Hope to see ya there one and all....

Good job Bio :cheers: and thanks for expediting the process Wraith. As always you guys do a great job on the servers and even though some people think you snap your fingers to make the changes most of us know it takes a lot of time and effort to make them work. Good job everyone!!!!

Never bounced off a pet that I'm aware of, but I haven't spawned any in ages either. I doubt that it would affect that in any event. This is about the translocator not breaking due to rocks, etc, and the hope that (if not this revision), players won't be able to deliberately stand on a trans and kill a player when they use their trans. Of course people can still trans while the area around the translocator is being pelted by rocks, and using the translocator during that time, you may die from a rock, don't expect the translocator to protect you from that scenario.
Tonight we'll find out.

I'm a bit confused about exactly what this means - I like the bit about the trans not being cancelled if someone is standing on it. Is it also unbreakable, as in, won't be broken if it takes damage? 'Cause I'm not so sure I like that idea. Monsters destroying your trans is part of the risk factor of using it.

It is unbreakable, as in monsters, redeemers wont hurt it. Thats is something I have wanted, and maps can be adjusted to compensate. Part of the fun is risking your life by going out there, and if you can't rely on the trans, then some players may not take the risk. If its left out in the open, then the danger is still there, its just changed. At least players have a chance i.e. they will be transported to the spot they set it at.

I am not sure how maps could be adjusted to compensate for that -- I don't think any safe rooms are ever going to get removed, and I'm not sure why they would be simply for this change anyway -- The only impact it has is that it makes it virtually impossible for monsters to DPS you to death, which means that the only attacks that are even threatening for monsters to have are insta-kills.
The major reason so many people don't actually leave safe areas is because so many monsters insta-kill them.

I'm with Wail, I like the idea that people can't stand on the trans but unbreakable completely is too easy? even though people complained about a "broken translocator" or "someone is standing on it" they still used it.. how many translocator's did you see in the safe rooms etc.. the more safe the game gets the easier it will become and it's already pretty easy to win. Trans is like Ghost but with infinite charges and if you have fast enough reaction's you are never going to die because as soon as your adren hits a low number your safe with a single click

Exactly - and part of that should be putting your trans in a safe place where it won't get broken & people won't stand on it. IMO if your trans is always safe, you are not really risking anything.

Yes, I think translocators should break. Unbreakable transes will also give the biggest benefit to AMs, the class that is arguably already the strongest.
