AlienOutpost. Its a good map, like the idea is good but overall the fps are the lowest of all the maps I have played. I was just playing it and it actually fried my video card. Not saying it was that bad because it's also a cheap card. But it happen to do that when I tried to play for like 30 seconds.

what was the card? I have an ATI radeon HD 3-something and it runs just as well as other maps. I think also factors of how many monsters were left and on what wave and how many were firing, as titans get pretty spammy on 14/15 when the mines and rocks are bouncing have to be taken into account.
When you say fried I guess you mean it melted or fizzed out from heat?

There was already a post made about that map awhile ago because of the frame rates and it did actually get tweaked a bit i think to help the frame rates a bit and i know it seemed to help for me because instead of getting like 5 i get about 17 which still sucks but its atleast sort of playable. Dunno if anything else can be done to it to help the fps but if it cant the simple solution is just dont play the map.....

It seems a small map and there are no *obviously* graphically taxing parts. There is no need for zone portals so maybe it is overloaded with textures etc. I have played it once with my card and I left on wave 15 on it once and my CPU heat was high, and the other monitors, especially the one which is always high, were really hot. I haven't studied it hard but maybe it is that map.

The main issue is the original layout of the map. Pasko did not think highly of a smooth game when he designed that room, and trust me, the original was like twice as bad than what it is now.
Thankfully, BrainPan already looked through the map inside and out, and he did maximized optimization. Unfortunately, it's the original layout that's killing it. Notice how you see a million things at once.
What he could do is to delete all the pretty meshes, but making these sacrifices are just not worth it as they may transform AlienOutpost into a ... MonsterBoxyArena.
But even Rocket and I say it's playable. If you think it's pretty bad then ummm...I'll whisper that you need an upgrade ;)

I do need an upgrade =D I only have 2 current computers that work for unreal and they both have AGP video cards. Damaged was very generous and sent me a new one that has 128MB of memory on it but my other card is a 32MB and it's in my laptop. I have played this map on my uncles computer and got like 47FPS on that map but he actually has the right setup unlike me. So either I should stop using the laptop or sell for upgrades...
