HD Crash and a workaround... and around... and around

One of my raptors crashed yesterday and lost it's partition information, then my machine locked up during the RAID rebuild, so I'm basically without any storage device on this machine. I have yet to get an SATA DVD that will work with my new mobo. Here's how I'm posting this from that very machine right now.

I commendeered my roommate's machine and setup TFTP, FTP, DHCP, and NFS servers (which was tricky for several reasons since he's on wireless and there were no working wired machines to access the router with). Then I setup a PXE boot environment to run a linux live distro (ploplinux) booting over the network. Lots of troubleshooting later, I'm logged into a text console session with an SSH connection to my web server where I'm running a text-only web browser.

Need sleep.

Uhhh couldn't you just open the browser on your friends machine and type clandw.org. Seems like it would have been a lot easier. :laughing3: and if was for work related access I would have just called in sick.

Aaw, that's nothing. I love troubleshooting... good chance to brush up on some of this stuff too. Check out the setup I needed to recover my RAID (at one point I was booting Knoppix off the camera I took this with :):
