I think someones packet flooding the server

this morning about 4-4:30Am pings went from a very playable 80 to 160+ and more.This was on all players. I did a UO trace and I got %20 packet loss on the server IP. I have 16 hops and they all were 0% besides the servers IP.

Somebody with a name lilke ALTcF4 ping ws 350 +. When I typed a comment about packet flooding he responded with something like "heh hacker". When he left pings returned to below 100.

Not sure it was him now way to tell. it happen I think when the new dreamus map was runnnig as well about 5 pm that same day. I believe palyer wow was the culprit. I mentioned,i type in game, packet flooding and he would lag me very bad when he came close to me. When he left the server went back to normal pings well under 100.

Any way the port could be changed to anything but 7777.?I think thats a popular port for automated DOS attacks.

Jett if I said something to you I apoligize for today.

I just wanted to let my team know I had the nuke and I was gonna shoot it.

As I said it in game and T32 person smart mouthed off like they always do and I called him a noob. Nothing was aim at you.

Again I want to apoligize.

As far as the lag I wish I could provide more info. I m just not that smart with computers so I dont know exactly how there doing it and really I dont want to learn. Its just fucking lamo's with nothing better to do with there time.

What kind of connection are you on? And what map do you remember it being on, any map you realized it on?

System stats?

I ask these for a reason, as I'll be able to tell you some tricks to get around packet flooding, so it doesn't effect you when they are doing it. And to tell exactly who is doing it.

Just as an added bit of info. There are new bots out. Anti tcc used to check the system applications to find rd party hardware running. Now they run as a background and run directly off the ut.exe file. This ups your cpu usage and bandwith as the bots run on a database that is connected to the net. So it runs twice the amount of bandwith. This gives them a horrible ass ping. Which can and most likely drag the server packet around the character. Depending on how much bandwith they are juicing from the server. It may even hold the server back a few seconds. But this is typically on servers with horrible connections and systems. Which is quite the contrary to DW.

Im on a cable connection Knology to be exact. It was the map Kingdom I think its night out I remember. I have a 3200 AMD 64 bit 512 ram. New d links 10/100/1000 router and card. I have game fuel off atm. I genrally run 60+ fps average on most maps. 70+ ave on the "good" maps.

I know from my own experience to stay far away for people physically when playing that other wise would lag me out to no end. Thats why I got good with the shock rifle. The laggers dont get the advantage that way.


I dont think alot of player know that with all that .ini hacking they have done to make the big jumps and fancy combo moves that up close the fighting your just laggin me totally out. If you ever notice im usually back pedling when Im engaged with someone. farther I am away the better I do.

Raedon 9600 but i know i havent updated the drivers in a long time. Im always afraid to do updates but that card is so old Ill work on it.

I shut everything off in background before I play and try to keep the HD defragged. I notice that the errors are all UT2004 related.
