Hi guys,

DW would really like to increase the number of SVAs and be involved with the SVAs more, such as having scrims, special events, or being able to poll you guys for what you like to see in the server. My problem is this: The SVA tag is completely uncontrolled. I don't have a problem with that in general, but if I ever wanted to do something special for you or with you guys, or set up a scrim or whatever, I would get 20 people crawling out of the woodwork saying "Oooh, I'm an SVA, look at my tag! (I JUST added it! :cyclopsani: " When all along, they've never worn it, or have been playing here for a week, or could care less, but just want to get in the scrim or take part in the event. So the only way I can think of to control it is to form an official club for you guys.

Further to this, unless I charge you guys for the club, I'll have the same problem. I'll get 80 people signing up for the club, when there's only 10 or 15 of you who really deserve to be part of it. It would be totally unfair to those of you who are dedicated to this community, and would deserve to participate, to get shut out because somebody added themselves to the mailing list.

So with this in mind, here's an idea I'm throwing out to you. Keep in mind, I'm not looking to make any money off of this. My goal is to make the SVA club a little more exclusive, and to be able to get you guys more involved with DW. And I would never ask you to pay to be in SVA unless I could give you something in return.

SVA members get:

T-Shirt
Email forwarding address (nickname@spamvikings.com)
Use of an SVA Teamspeak Server
Use of a Private Server with base maps loaded (to practice for scrims of course :)
A private message board on the website (with only SVA and DW accessing it)
Participate in scrims with DW
Discounts on T-Shirts and any other merchandise we will have in the future
And anything else I can think of, or if you have suggestions, let me know.

Fees:

Everything must be done in Paypal.

Account setup fee, and first month: $25. If you've already purchased a T-shirt, or made contributions in the past, that can be applied to this fee.

I need a sign up fee to again discourage people who are not really interested, or who just want to join for that month to get in on a scrim or event.

Monthly fee: $5 (no prior contributions will be applied to this)

You're getting an awful lot for that $5. But again, my goal is not to make money, but to simply be able to get you guys more involved with us. And no one is going to pay a monthly fee (even one as small as $5) if they're not serious about being here. If by some miracle, you guys use less than $5 worth of bandwith, as always, every penny will go towards the operation of the servers.

Please understand, joining the club will not make you any "better" than any other pub player, or non-paying SVA. You're still subject to the rules of the server, and you are not allowed to abuse any of the priviledges you are receiving by being a member of the club.

So let me know what you guys think. If we can get 8-10 people interested enough to do this, I'll go ahead and set everything up, and flesh out some rules to help prevent abuse of this club.

And also note that I am not renting a UT server, or renting a TS server, or charging admission for these. I'm charging admission for the club, which will have access to these things.

Great idea. If this does take off, one idea to distinguish the Official SVAs would be to add a character to that tag, such as SVA+> or something of that nature. That will ensure that the general SVAs who do not want to pay a fee can still show the respect for the server and what not.
Those who are considering this, note that the original fee of the T-shirt was 25$ before this other stuff came about, so in a sense you are supporting your great server thru the purchase of the shirt and getting access to a bunch of great stuff. The 5$ a month fee does not seem to harsh to me either, heck just don't eat a McDonalds once a month and your set :). I hope this works out, kinda exicited to scrim against a team of organized SVAs, as alot of you who are currently sporting the tag are pretty damn good.

thats a fantastic idea, I would pay $10 at least but if i get more I could just contribute thru donations or something. Sounds like a hell of a deal. I"M IN!!

Well, haven't gotten much feedback on this so far. Maybe we should just go ahead with this, and I'll leave it up to you guys to help recruit people to it. After all, it will be more fun for you guys to have more people there. And if I add an announcement to the server, and homepage, it might take off more.

I'll get back to you in a few days with some more information.

And just to clarify: If you've already bought a T-Shirt in the past, or made $25 in donations, your account activation fee would already been taken care of. Just provide me the confirmation Paypal emails.

But hold off until I can get this fleshed out better.

YAY!!!!! This is a wonderful idea. I would love to scrim with you fellas. Five bucks a month sounds reasonable. Upon signing up do we get a free shirt? Is that how it works? oh BTW .. There is a lot of people in the server wich are very very good players.. and who don't use the SVA> tag. . maybe some of them would like to join that club.. I mean like..
