Hola guys. Some of you may remember me from way back as the guy who ran The Invasion Vault. I did some monster creations and such and did some RPG work too. I took an extended break from 2k4 but I've been itching to work in RPG again.
I'm curious, what's the state of invasion and RPG now? I see a lot of servers, but not many real players. Is it all going away now? I'm contemplating a return to 2k4 coding but only if there is the audience for it. Are you guys doing any projects now you might like help with?

Glad to see things are still rolling along. Man you never really leave UT gaming, do you lol.....

Hey welcome back gopostal!

Are you thinking about getting your website back up and running or that's still in the far future.

Not really sure to be honest. I still have gopostals.com and utsurvival.com but I also have all the invasion vault files too.

What I'm more concerned with though is the health of the Inv/RPG community. I don't really want to fire up the factory if there just aren't that many players. I've been watching the browser and it looks pretty sparse except for a couple of servers.

Very true! You can never leave a classic alone for long! ;)

My take on the state of RPG in UT...currently it's a little slow...several new games that were at least half decent have come out in the last 6 months...drawing away players from older games. Several of the servers that sported various RPG gametypes have closed up shop and moved on to other things. However, there are tons of peeps just like you (and me!) who always keep coming back to UT! And that's a testament to how good a game UT really is...nearly 6 years down the line (for 2k4) and people are still playing it...are still modding & mapping for it...and it's still being commercially sold...rare in today's "buy it, try it, throw it away" mindset.

UT's longevity can also be attributed to the gaming communities that grew up around it. Facts are...if it were not for people like you, Ant,and a whole host of others both here in the DW community and other like minded players & developers, UT would die a slow, miserable death. We're all keeping it alive because we love to play the game. Do you need any other reason to continue to make it fun for a long time to come?
