I was going to 'buy' ultima. Does this kill everyone around you when you die? Is this then a bit anti-social?

Ultima is pretty much another useless skills. The experience points it gives isn't all that much. Apply your points to something that will benefit you in the long run.

I consider ultima to be more valuable for its tactical possibilities than for the XP.
Ultima can be useful for higher level players especially with ghost. Since ultima is a redeemer-like explosion, it can take out a bunch of monsters and regenerate adren for globe especially if you switch to an energy weapon b4 the monsters get you. Even if you already ghosted and die, you may still get some adren to start off the next wave.

Well i've maxed out on DB and ADB but seen as I die every other freakin round I thought it would be a way of maximizing points as quickly as possible by gaining an extra 'redeemer'.
My gaming style dictates aggression but maybe I need to run faster instead :)

As above, I believe that ultima is more valuable for its tactical possibilities than for the XP.
If you want "to run around faster" then you need Quick Foot, Power Jump, Air Control, etc. All of those should be maxed by about level 200 at least for AM and WM.
Btw you'll get more XP by staying alive longer than by an ultima explosion. :swink:

I totally agree with Seven, Ultima is a tactical skill in Monster Mash, you should only buy it once you have max almost everything. I personally buy it at level 300 on each of my 6 characters (WM, AM and MM).
The reason why this skill is not very efficient is because it was first developed for DM and TDM RPG. In a TDM RPG it's extremely devastating against other players. Maby we should consider tweak the skill in MM so it could be more stronger (like 1.5 or 2X stronger), but even so I doubt it would really make a difference. You better aim a staying alive.

agree with franky and others. this is a luxery purchase so it's recommented that it be bought only after you have purchased all important skills.
if you are dying so much then you need to be buying other skills to prolong your life. believe me, once you have purchased most of the key things you won't die a lot, no matter what class you are.
of course, the key disadvantage of ultima is you have to ghost or die to use it, which means it's true usefulness is fairly low, as it's use is in opposition to your normal goal of staying alive and saving your ghost for backup. even in your case with dying a lot, instead of buying ultima to take advantage of that, i would think it's better to invest those stats in skills which will keep you alive. whatever class or level you are, it won't be too much longer before you stop dying so much and then this possible reason for buying ultima won't exist anymore for you.
however i totally agree with you and understand about 'style'. once purchased, ultima can be a very fun thing to have, as even when you ghost you can take out a whole bunch of monsters. i luv ghosting and the while i'm ghosting hearing "m-m-m Moooonster Kill" or some such thing. still, for all it's fun and somewhat usefulness at times, it's just not as important or useful as a lot of the other skills. like franky, i waited till about lvl 300 before i starting buying stuff like that, and in restropect, i'm glad i waited and don't regret it. i don't regret buying it either :sgiggle:

so sounds like you are a Weapons Master. If so, you can max out your Vamp skill, as well as max out health. With those two skills alone being maxed, or at least pretty high, your chances of long term survival go way way way up. Vamp level 10 with a good amount of health is The Bomb. With those two skills maxed and DR maxed you should be able to go out and hob nob with the raptors in wave 13. Make sure you max out DR it takes a while but it's very important. Get these stats up and you will Live Long and Prosper :salute:

Yes i'm a weapons master with maxed out DB and ADB but i'm a very low level compared with most on this server hence my DR is minimal and vamp level low
As an ex tdm clan player I find the fun in the game is avoiding being hit while dealing as much damage as I can. The problem is that at this level one hit=dead on higher waves and you dont usually see seeker goo coming :sbigsmile: . I dont mind this because i find it challenging. I have plenty to do while you guys mop up :ssmile:
