Here's a remote skill for medics: remote healing. It requires a new medic artifact. When selected, the medic points to the player they want to remote heal. That player then gets automatically healed for a limited amount of time. The healing could be via a slow drip instead of instant or it could depend on the skill level. Remote healing would stack with the receiver's self healing methods like the self booster, water guns, WM's health drip skill, etc.
Unlike the medic's healing blast which instantly heals everyone within the blast's radius, remote healing allows a player to be healed over a period of time and out of the medic's reach and sight.
Restrictions: medic can't remote heal themselves mainly because activating it requires targeting the receiving player with the cross hair. While self remote healing might sound contradictory, it would be useful for medics who use non-splash damage medic weapons like the link gun. But those medics use either the healing sphere or blast so it's not really a disadvantage.
There would be multiple skill levels:
Level 1: Cost 15(?) stat points. Requires 15(?) adren and remote heals for 30 seconds. HP drip is 15(?) per second.
Level 2: Cost 10(?) stat points. Requires 20(?) adren and remote heals for 60 seconds. HP drip is 20(?) per second.
Level 3: Cost 5(?) stat points. Requires 25(?) adren and remote heals for 90 seconds. HP drip is 25(?) per second.
A medic could use this skill on both low level players who aren't near the medic and high level players who like to go out into the fray. The medic would earn the same healing XP as for direct healing.
Idea for new medic remote skill

Sounds like a good idea.

Those are valid concerns and an interesting perspective and playing style. But it's not for everyone. And if a remote healing ability was introduced, you wouldn't have to buy it. It would be useful for lower level medics who simply can't survive out in the fray like my level 130 medic.
The ability doesn't take anything away from the team aspect because you're still healing other players. Sure you have to target each player individually but once you know who goes out into the fray and who hides, you know who to target for remote healing and who to heal locally. There is already the healing blast which affects all players within range which is why I suggested using a per player approach for the remote healing. Plus your tactics would vary - give remote healing to low level players early on and as they start hiding, give remote healing to the high levels who stay out.
As for implementation, perhaps a message could be broadcast to the chat console announcing something like "{Player 1} gave a remote healing medkit to {Player 2}." It would serve to advertise the ability and provide verification that the "medkit" was received. Alternatively a similar message like "{Player 1} gave you a remote healing medkit" could be shown only by the receiving player in the mid-screen message area just like existing healing announcements. Maybe the medic could receive a similar message for confirmation or there could be a visual cue. Also the receiving player could have a small countdown timer above the active artifact area (just like the poison countdown timer).
