Hi there :)
I start here an Petiton to keep the Master Server alive.
During the last year, there has been many downtimes, sometimes lasting more than a week. Starting the end of summer 2011 the situation has become even worse - the queries started to take a very long time (sometime the queries lasted minutes until players would receive the servers list)...

So then Happy Fraggin :)

It's a good idea. Right now the master server doesn't seem to work for me at all (or it's so slow I don't bother). Hopefully they keep it going.

With the Master Server being on/off, I went to all gametypes and just favorited everything.
How does one make a combined Favorites List with all servers in UT2004 for easy access for all?
I am asking on how to copy and paste favorites from one .ini to another.
Obviously people are going to have different configurations so copying the entire ut2004.ini is not viable.
The Master Server is totally unreliable and I feel it would be in the best interests of the community if all servers were compiled together into one favorites list for all who wish to use it.
I tried copying and pasting to a vanilla config ut2004.ini file and the favorites did not show up in-game.

But you forget someting Tichinde, your list's are never uptodate.
Then when a Server change his IP-Adress or it is offline, you never find out what happen to the Server.
Thats a Point why we need the Masterserver.

<pwNd>Kayoz has suggested using a script to Auto-Import/Export Favorites.
If we had a central place where servers can be added/removed/changed it could work.
If EPIC does not help the community by putting the master server back online 24/7, would it be possible to host a Master Server?
In the ut2004.ini, I see this:
[IpDrv.MasterServerLink]
LANPort=11777
LANServerPort=10777
MasterServerList=(Address="ut2004master1.epicgames.com",Port=28902)
MasterServerList=(Address="ut2004master2.epicgames.com",Port=28902)
MasterServerList=(Address="ut2004master3.epicgames.com",Port=28902)
I am guessing if it is possible to host a Master Server, we could point to it with the MasterServerLink.

There's probably some way to set up an alternate master server for UT2004 yes. You'd need to get that information into everyone's ut2004.ini though.

I could make an app that fetches all servers from GameTracker and stores them in UT2004.ini, if anyone's interested. Although having half a 1000 favourites doesn't sound really neat to me.
The best way of storing them would be as ServerCache entries in UT2004.ini - servers are usually cached and in case the master is down, they will be displayed in the server browser. The problem right now however is that the master server is never actually down, it just takes ages to query and returns incomplete server lists.

In UT99 you could set up a custom master server with ucc command "ucc masterserver".
You can't do it with UT2004. The information about UT2004 master server seems to be also highly classified. So I don't think we can have our own master server without the UT2004 full source codes.
Maybe someone could make a custom UT2k4ServerBrowser class or something so that the servers list would be pulled from a locally/remotely stored text file? I already looked into it, but it looks too complex.
We wouldn't even need a master server in that case.
If you have the Unrealscript skills, contact me, maybe we can come up with something -
