PC / PS3

I know a lot of games that span the gap between pc and console are now using the same servers for online play. Does anyone know if this will be the same for UT 2007. Because to build a new pc to run the game is going to cost me a lot and as I already have paid for a PS3 I dont want to have to shell out two loads of cash needlessly.

You can only wait and see . Most console players from what I have read can't stand the compitition vs. pc .. The only way you could keep up is if they offer it with keyboard and mouse.

from what i understand they will be offering a mouse and keyboard cause it will be running a full version of linux operating system on it.

It won't be Linux out of the gate, but it's certainly going to happily run Linux once you get it set up...at least that's all the news I've got. I really have a VERY hard time believing any screwed-up megacorp is going to put anything open-source on one of their boxen (that isn't a server they think nobody knows about).

Well I guess ill have to wait and see, Fingers crossed they will have a keyboard and mouse for the PS3, and ill be ableto download all the same patches and updates as the pc gamers otherwise its pretty pointless buting for the PS3.
The great thing about UT is the fact anyone can make a map for the game but if it doesnt translate between the two platforms it ruins it all for me.

Regardless since you allready payed for it, you *should* be one of the first to recieve it and you could sell it on ebay for a profit.

No matter what console user said...PC's always will be better. At least on my humble point of view. PC's are a whole different story with no boundaries.

It really depends on what you want out of a system. The reason why consoles have their place is b/c they are designed entirely for games, so they (usually) do what they do with no probs. Where as a PC is designed to do so much that it become a different beast altogether. The only reason why PCs can have better looking graphics is b/c the consumer is always buying new video cards every 6 months, to do that with a console would be suicide. I will have both console and PC games for years to come, they both have me hooked.
I am flabbergasted that you would prepay for a system that has so little known about it. I didn't even know there was a super official price yet, other than the absurd 500 mentioned at E3.
Judging my past with consoles: I will buy the nintendo system the week it comes out. b/c I have to have my Zelda. After a year or two, I will see a great final fantasy or GTA game and end up buying a Play Station system.
oooh platform wars!!!!!!!!!

Me gots to chime in on this. :toothy5:
I pretty much have every console that ever came out since the atari 6800 lol!
I think the fun in consoles is that you can plug in more that one controller and have a lot of fun. You can also play a lot of the games from the arcades. Or you can relax on the couch and look at some really good looking RPG's on your big screen. Oh and the one other thing is that you can buy some old games on your console and it always works fine.
On the other hand, a PC is just a well tuned console created for the sole purpose of playing UT lol. I doubt that cards needed to run 2k7 well will cost all that much by the time it gets here. I'd even say, if you buy smart you can get some good stuff for around $100 bucks. Just look for a goodly number of pixel pipes and a fat bus (256-bits at least) for your video memory. So fear not, PS3 or no PS3; your PC won't let you down.
