Voice chat cut out with HW acceleration

I have a sound blaster Audigy 2 ZS and love to run EAX when I can. Howerver with UT2004, I notice that if I run it in anything other than software 3D audio the voice chat from everyone cuts out horribly. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this or new a solution other than to disable H/W 3D audio or H.W 3D +EAX.

UT2k4 has serious issues with EAX, and there is no fix ever discussed by them. If you search ataricommunity.com for EAX, you will see many people complaining about it.
