so from the assault map glacier, i cordoned off the very last objective area... the part with the terrain and the landbridges, and have been modifying it to invasion tastes. It's not as blocked off as the assault version, you can kinda get up into the terrain a bit.
There's basically 2 kinds of invasion maps: Bunker and Base with a combination not being out of the question.
Bunker style is where the player can sit in a well protected area and spam forth... like Grendelv3.
Base style typically has a completely protected area with everything you need (health, adren) that you can't really spam out of. like Playing Field and TransJumpers.
Of course, this is a general statement, but you get the pic. LastGlacierBase will be a Base style in the vein of Playing field. the difference will be doors. while you can spam very ineffectively from the doorway on playing field, doors on LastGlacierBase will probably prevent even that.
Lastly, i wanted to have a jumppad go the length of the level rather than use a teleporter, but i can't get the goddamb jumppad to punch the player hard enuf so fuck it. All i have left is pickup and pathnode placement and its ready for a test.

i completed the map last night and went to do one last compile before upping it and voila!! Hang at "pruning reachspecs." so i ripped out the pathing did it from scratch and voila!! Hang at "pruning reachspecs."
i have a couple of other things i can check so i'm gonna. hopefully it won't take but a little bit and it'll work. the whole monster area is terrain, and i raised all the player starts off the ground (to see if it stopped monsters from falling thru) so maybe that's it.

well i figured out that the problem is some entity in the map... it's not a pathnode, playerstart or jumpspot, and i haven't had time to check the pickups. but even with aaallll pathnodes and playerstarts removed, it still takes ~5 mins to do "adding reachspecs" which without those entities it should fly on by... so once i locate the problem (i may have to completely repopulate the map) i'll up it here.
. . . unless anyone has any suggestions for what may be causing the slowdown . . .

it appears that my adrens were too many and too close. . .
and i just remembered that i forgot to do the 1 thing that needed to be done to make it complete and well. . . i'm lazy . . .
the minihealth spawns in the gear-up area need a 1 second spawn, right now they have 30. so if the server admin that ups this could do that and mark it "_B" I'd appreciate it.

played it last night for a bit. IMO it plays pretty nicely... the monsters spread out, etc...
but spiders bitches, raptors and lucifer fall thru the totally terrain floor. sometimes on spawn, sometimes a bit later. not to mention there's a couple of entity changes i should make. so i think i will.
really tho, the changes needed aren't huge. take maybe :30.

made some significant changes
* leveled out the terrain and raised the floor underneath. monsters falling thru were hitting the kill floor
* edited the pickup times on some of the pickups
* spread out the adren in the base
* moved the base teleporter to the far platform inside
* added teleporter to the bunker. . . the 3 teles are now in series (like duststorm)
* raised all paths/starts above the ground so that those monsters that were teleporting then falling thru might not do so.
* changed around the boxes in the bunker
* got diabolical on the doors to the base
* added some cover to the far platform
* moved some rocks around to prevent some monster stickage.
the changes i made were pretty tweaky. there's some others that might need to be made, but i think gameplay elements are done. Here's hoping the there's no more falling thru, and if there is that the fallen find their way out.

* added a "Silly BSP (tm)" to the hill in the middle to keep lucifer from glitchkilling. he might not come completely out, but he won't be completely concealed anymore. he can't stand on the hill, he'll slide to the bottom revealing most of his upper body
* added jumppads to get to the roof of the base and to the far platform from down below.
* added some crates to the bunker. you should be able to hold it now.
* changed the spawn time on the ammo in the base. now 5 sec . . . a li'l too long for someone to camp, not too long for everyone to get good startup ammo.
* added a supershield to the base.
* changed 200 health vial in the base to 1 sec spawn.
* try sniping from the roof of the bunker now . . . it should be safer lawl
