Has anyone seen or played with one of these puppies yet?

I'm sure the optics on it are great . But alas it only has 5 buttons . Logitech 518 has 8 , I don't know if at this point in the game I could handle any less . I wish logitech would add a pinky button or 2 making it a 10 button mouse, I can dream .

I have used th logitech for years now , when the last one crapped out I considerd the Razor , until I went to the store and put it in my hand, I;m sure in time it would feel natural , but didn't like the feel . Although this new Razor looks like it is edging more toward the look of the Logitech and may feel better then that brick they use to have. It lacks in the button department . More buttons = better . IMHO

I have an older Razer. Loved the optics and the fluid movement. Hated the ergonomics.

I have small hands, and even I had trouble handling this mouse a little. For those of you with big hands, forget about it.

And the side buttons of the razer were nearly impossible to use. They were below a plastic outcropping, so you had to go under this "ledge" to reach them. I tried really hard to get used to it, but in the end I gave in and got the logitech.

It looks like they fixed the side button problems. If you're good without the extra buttons the logitech offers, I say go for it. I might even consider it myself.

Yeah, buttons are nice. I have an old MX700 which has the 8 button layout. However, I find the layout is a little cramped, especially the 4 buttons lined up in the middle. The MX700 is *heavy* and I'm looking for something a little lighter. The MX500 was the corded equiv at the time (and is still available).

I assume the 'DPI Adjust' buttons on the MX518 can be re-assigned for other uses? Or is the function fixed for them? The Logitech literature calls them:

Sensitivity Adjustment
Dedicated controls to switch in-game from pixel-precise targeting to fast-twitch evasive moves.

the word 'dedicated' made me think they may not be re-mappable.

As to size, the reviews say the DA is close to the size of the G5. And the G5 looks to be using the same shell as the MX518. So I guess Razer finally figured it out. Also, the buttons on the DA are said to be easier to get to than those on the older Razers.

I think I'll go on a mouse hunt and see if I can't feel-up one or two of them (without getting arrested). DA will be hard to find 'in the wild' as they are selling like hot-cakes.

When I was on my own mouse hunt, I lucked out at Circuit City...they actually had a Razor Diamondback, Logitech 518 and G5 all out and playable with suitable games on the comps! So I could feel them up without any guilt whatsoever! ;)

I liked the specs I'd read from Razor, but when I actually got my hand on one, I was disappointed! I agree with Toxic, the ergonomics were awful. The mouse was way too "flat" in profile...buttons hard to reach, not enough support for your hand. I see that the new DeathAdder has a more curved body...so that should help the feel. But I see that while you may more easily access the side buttons, they still haven't solved, what was for me, a sticking point...the side buttons are not differentiated enough! Smooth, flat and right smack together, which made it very hard to tell one from the other.

In answer to the question about the small buttons...on the G5 they are reprogrammable. Logitech provides a very nice software interface and you can configure to your heart's content. Not sure about the 518, but most likely they are as well. Love my G5, though I wish it had the same buttons as the 518! Compromises.....compromises!!!
