When "good" players run up to an open unbuilt node touch it and keep running what is the purpose of this. I always assume it has something to do with stats. I want to be a "good" player too so teach me. :cyclopsani:
I dont want to name names just wondered every since the CLR days.

I only touch and go when I see problems comng. Touch node go kill problem then back to node. That or if re-inforcements are coming to link it. I will move out to the next node. Like defiant said usually only done when in manta. Although maps like Artic sometimes it's in your best interest to touch and go expecially if you are behind the 8 ball.

I touch and go when I feel my services are needed elsewhere. For instance:
I touch a node, but I see that our primary is now under attack, and if it falls, this one I'm at means nothing. I'll touch and run back.
Or if I see that a critical node has come free to attack and the node that I'm working on can fall without affecting our ability to attack the critical node.
There are also times when I will touch a node and heal my vehicle instead. This is especially true when I'm expecting a lot of company. Before you call me an asshole, remember a few things:
You are no good dead. If the enemy kills you, and your node is building, it doesn't mean much because they will then just kill it.
Sometimes the node is not as important as the delay factor. As I've said in the past. I'd rather keep 3 or 4 guys busy trying to kill me and die, then charging in, killing two, and dying, only to let them get the node.
If you engage the enemy while your node is building (instead of charging it and looking around innocently like you're taking a leak), they will engage you and might forget about the node. At very least, you hope it will build in time before you die so you can get some vehicles, or even some help spawning there.
Basically I weigh the value of staying and building, or moving on. But yes, you generally need a fast vehicle to make these kinds of decisions.

Interesting. I never looked at it that way but you guys make some good points.
I think I am talking more in the this context.
Say playing Tricky the other night node 4 closest to our own core needs to go up before the other nodes open up.Games been going more than 8 minutes so where behind the 8 ball. Three times I followed the lead scorer he touched the node and ran off leaving me to build it. problem being I cant build it ,not enough link, nor build it fast enough before I'm swamped with enemies.
Well low an behold Urtho pops in and I know him well enough I follow him and right off we get the first node built the other nodes open and we are off to the races. We didn't win the map but at least we had a chance.
I guess over all I play for nodes first and then worry about the DM stuff second. Its just more fun game for me that way. We had a blast late last night on DReamus 2 lots of good linking on nodes tank healing etc. at one point I think we had 6-7 people healing a tank on the ridge. to me its games like that are the best but thats my play style.

You are absolutely right though Joe. I know what you are talking about. When your at a critical linking node. You link up and the other guy takes off for no apparent reason. If he would have stayed the node would be up . He left and 5 seconds later 2 mantas and a scorpian show up . Sure would have liked to have that Tank. :colors:
Or that Leviathan resting in the middle of the map. :pirate:DW_Bomzin wrote:Sure would have liked to have that Tank. :colors:

thats another good reason more nodes more vehicles.
Im really surprised I haven't gotten more responses.
Heh
today some one was bragging about there "stats" how many kills he got etc. Problem was he lost the match 3 to 1 which i of course pointed out :director: .
I always thouht on ONS if you loose the match you get 0 for your stats that amke some people try a little harder I think.

That brings up another thing. On blue today, no one was protecting the primary node! They kept protecting the damn core (stupid shits)! If they would get the primary node up then the core would have been protected. It was so bad today that jett, sweaters and a few others (me included) left mid game because no one wanted to work together. If they would only take two seconds to read up the manual, they would know how to play....... :idea:DW_Bomzin wrote:You are absolutely right though Joe. I know what you are talking about.
