Yeah we had a discussion on here last year I think.

Recently I have changed my perspective on FPS and how much it effects your game. As most of you know I have gone thru several computers in the last 2 months. The last one I have been on has a intergrated video card Intel 950 which is just horrilbe. I litterly get single digit FPS on many maps. That said my scores /game have stayed the same if not become better.

Now saying that my "NEW" laptop just came back from RMA land and now those single digit maps on low settings Im getting 80 fps on middle to high settings(ATI 1700 card ). Sure I see alot more but I dont think my game seems to improve in fact some details I never see I find distracting actually. My 1 v 1 may become in time better since i dont get the "blind man" syndrome where a enemy is so close to me my card doesn't render until im dead. I can see the avrils using the manta and raptor right until the kill me  But im not so sure high FPS is the holy grail I have always thought it to be in games like these.

IMO- There will never be a number or a standard for how many frames the eye can 'see' per second, because it's simply not a machine that would fall under any rules of math or formulas based on frequencies or light effects on preset amounts of time (like our game would). The fps for the eye , will always depend on many factors wich will make it vary (because of need of addaption) wide and randomly as hell as they are part of a been wich is unexact , unperfect , just alive.

-- To me , Fps really make a difference on First person shooters, specially while flying a craft or on hit-scans . High Fps are an important part on the success of a battle but that's not all to it.. I also don't really think Graphics Detail holds a relevant value about afecting FPS if' you have a good machine, in that case your computer will handle the game (UT- because it depends on the game) in it's totallity or partially without any difference but eye candy.

-- I just set everything to the highest possible and that's how I play (And yeah this might cost you , because at times you think youre hidding behind a bush and for your enemy you're out in the clear) Then again all depends on your system , I don't imagine myself playing or trying to play this game on a laptop so go admire those who do it --

I hear ya! Myself! The higher the frames the better I play, and it all has to be set full blast! I just had never really put much thought to the light/dark aspects of the topic though. Also the blurry road it gives us to examine as to what we perceive as real and what in fact actually takes place. What a wonderful mix the human race is given with time, space, light, perception, and imagination. Let's just keep hoping the human race survives long enough to fully understand these fields. The possibilities of such a future are staggering. I don't belive Wells, Einstien, or Franklin even ever saw video games comming, ...Poe might have! Illusions manipulated by machines, programed by man...reminds me kind of like a couple of movies I once saw! LOL
After giving it a little more thought,...I'm thinking 8800GTX,...SLI of course!
