HMMM does the "return to index page" button/link thing that you see after hitting the mark all forums read thingy, yes i know im just full of technical terms today, not work for anyone else or is it just me? i get an error when i click it :(

Return to index page button
I'm guessing I'm in different theme than yours (I'm using Monolith) theme.
I see the board index at the upper right corner below the title bar and it works fine for me. While I'm here I'll like to point out that there's no link to return to the home page. Clicking on the DW logo takes you to the index as well and I feel that should take you to the home page instead ;)

I'm using the default theme I assume (never changed it). When I click "Return to index page button" it just refreshes the page I'm on, but the Death Warrant logo does bring me back to the front page.

Work around . Don't click anything after marking forums read . Let it redirect automatically just give it a second .
