where is our voice chat :(
1.)See Zeus's post above
2.) Gameplay is smoother when it is off, rather than on. We need to make the most of the limited on-line bandwidth allowed for on-line players. I noticed less player issues about wierd things happening since it being shut off. I don't know why I had voice chat enabled on the server for as long as I did, I guess I never thought about shutting it off sooner. We have a free system for players to chat with, its kinda redundant to have 2 voice systems running, and those that are on vent, also hear all the voice chats in-game, and when you are trying to communicate with others in vent, and someone in-game starts talking about something unrelated to the game, you can't talk with the others on vent because of this inconsiderate person spamming the in-game voice chat that you are hearing. If you really feel the need to talk to others, then use vent. Sure you can mute someone in-game, but what if the other people you want to talk to didn't mute that same person also? Then you wont know if your talking at the same time as the other person you muted is talking. All in all, its just easier to use one voice system. Since vent is on a totally different server, it doesn't matter how much bandwidth it needs, because it is coming from another source, and doesn't affect the invasion server negatively in any way, shape, or form.
3.) With vent, you can go into your own channel and talk among a group of players if you wish. The UT2K4 in-game chat has no controls other than muting that person, and if an admin has to mute them, then they cannot do their job of monitoring troublesome players voice spamming and all the other players have to suffer through it as well.
Sure there are pro's and con's to it being off, but there's just as many pro's and con's when its turned on.

Yeah for Wraith    . As Wraith said, there are pros and cons for both being it on or off, and there will always be pros and cons for everything. If it is not the VC, it's about the server crashing, the monsters are too hard, oh the first few waves are boring, there is always something that doesnt fit someone's standards. And that is just it, "someone" or even a group, but Wraith is unable to please individual's dislikes because then there would be just too many. I'm not saying that only one person wants VC back on, as I can see it is not, but at the same time it is not like there are other solutions. Nothing is ever perfect in this world but we all adjust in life and hopefully are able to move on as well.
I think that most of us understand the importance communication with each other is what makes Monster Mash fun. It sure makes it more fun for me. Vent is an exellent Chat program that the DWs got me into, and I thank them for that. It doesn't hurt to try the program and see what the community is like with the DWs. Worst comes to worst, you join and if you dont like it, just uninstall it. It literally takes a whole 10-15 minutes to get it setup for most people. If your on the MM server while setting it up, you should be able to get help from people who are already on it. The point is that there is another solution for VC if you "REALLY NEED" it. And yes I understand that Chavez has to change his whole setup to get on vent. That is unfortunate Chavez and sorry to hear. But again, that is one situation that does not outweigh the reason for ridding of the VC. We can only share our personal experiences and opinions, not others, we must understand that and respect everybodies views. Wraith has been working hard on this server for a very long time. I have not once complained about it, other than the odd oh these first waves are boring, but that shouldn't stop anyone from playing not should it?
All in all, this has been said many times, we learn to adjust and move on, it is how people and society learn to survive in the real world.
Cheers everyone!

There are many channels in vent already, and vent is meant for the UT2k4 players already, that is the purpose of our vent server.
