Arctic Conquestion II Beta map

Here's a specific forum for discussing potential maps, maps that need a vacation and optimizations and modifications for better playability.

I haven't played it in about 2 days so a new version may have been put up, but I find the node layout pretty confusing, criss-crossing across the map like that. I'd greatly prefer a layout that gives you a more defined front.

There are also a lot of vehicles and it makes it really tough for the defending team to come back.

Personally I'd probably like it more if you lightened up the fog some. Right now it's pea soup -- Are you trying to use the fog to cut down on performance issues or long-range sniping? I think this would be more fun and a lot more attractive with a sharp and clear winter sky.

The fog is used for a bit of performace as well as ambience. I'm afraid the next revision is a hair more foggier. I will lighten it up and look at changing the node layout. Perhaps even taking the cores at the top and leveling it out instead of then being up on a hill. Theres not much left of the origional....lol

Anyhow, leveling would make a new layout easier. I may work on it the next few days, as my vacation didn't pan out so I am stuck with being home and not much to do.

I can take the raptor outside the level again and then fly it below the world and then shoot anything I want, the shots fly through the floor. The node layout still sucks, and something about the map makes an advantage for the right side. Everytime I play the left side is loosing.
Maybe reduce the amount of avrils available would make trips to extremly far nodes possible too.

Still alot of potential with this map, I like the feel of it. Keep up the good work.

As far as I know, the OLD first beta of the map is still up. I had the second beta ready to be put on the server over 2 weeks ago, but nothing has happened.

Since I can't change maps on the server, I don't now when it will be updated with the fixes. This wait is getting too frustrating.

I went out and bought Factions for Guildwars, I need a break from this.

Beta G has been on the server for a few days now.

You have a newer one?

Mea Culpa...

I'm sorry, that is the newest version. Last time I saw it playing it was the old beta. I know you have alot on your plate, and in no way blaming you or anyone for the time needed to replace a beta map with a newer version, its just hard for me to personally wait for a revision to be put up as I get too excited to see what its like.....

Looks like I will have to make an invisible fence around the perimeter.

I will change the node layout, I just havent begun doing that as I wanted to know if the changes of the betaG worked out o.k., such as the jumps and teleporters.

Yeah, it was G. Don't take my feedback to harsh, just letting you know whats up.

On a side note. If I went underground with the raptor and wreaked havok, would that be considered cheating?
I'm just taking advantage of the maps "features" :P. Or is it just bad looking?

I really do appreciate everyones comments, good or bad. Just having a bad month....lol..but thats another story...I am putting a new node layour first suggested by Toxic, (Don't you hate it when when your wrong!) that I was hesitant to try. This should make the layout better, with 3 paths possible, but 2 cut-offs within those paths. Anyhow, it will be a while before I'm done, but it will happen.

Ya can't be wrong if you don't have enough data to make a logical decision!!
Turning real live bods loose on betas is the only way to find out where the wrinkles are hiding! 'Cause you well know that bots won't give you feed back, they only go where you tell 'em to, and they can't drive worth a darn! :flower:

Still love the transport tubes! (I find myself mentally going "WHEEEEEE!!" every time I jump in one!
