I'd love to see new monsters in UT2004, but i never searched for guides or programs to animate new monster skins.
If it's possible to make new monsters on the server, i'd like to share some monster ideas with you, and making a topic for monster designs/ideas.

The only thing i can do to show my ideas is to post some sketches i made and some i found on internet:)

I wish I knew how to make monsters....It seems very difficult to do, but I wanna learn :)

Making monsters is not all that hard. Making good monsters is also not all that hard.

It is time consuming, however.

No. Mostly just a matter of extending the Monster class, or some other specific subclass (SMPNali in particular, from the Satore monster pack).

More unique effects can be handled by taking a look at any number of the other monsters running on Monster Mash and seeing how things are handled there.

One question is whether new monsters might add to or replace specific existing monsters on certain waves. Not eliminate any monster but maybe replace monsters that appear on lots of waves.

The first one, while looking spider-like, also resembles a queen. Maybe it could replace the queens on the higher waves. Should/would it be more difficult?

The second one could pass for a baby seeker! Yikes! Maybe it could be added to wave 11 and 12 but do less damage than a seeker, have slower goo projectiles, and have no pulling ability. Maybe it could send out the seeker link to freak players out but not actually pull them. :evil3:

The third one looks like a cross between Angus and the Skaarj warriors that throw energy bolts. Maybe it could be a hybrid that throws energy with its right hand for range attacks and uses its left scythe hand for melee attacks like Angus.

Okay people, I understand your desire to see different monsters, Wraith ussally does a great job of keeping the server fresh and he has several creatures that he has put on and more than likely will do so again when he has time. You must understand, that Wraith does what he can, when he can. Monsters must be tested and must be shown to work and fit on the sever. You have great ideas folks keep them coming!

What waves monsters appear on is entirely determined by Wraith.

I don't see anything wrong with discussing new monsters, just that it's all vapor until you [generic] can come up with some real models & animations for said monsters.

Once you're at that point, maybe some discussion will spark some interesting ideas on what might make a particular monster unique.



In any case, I think, actually, we may be in a position "soon-ish" with DWRPG where I may want to pick up work on some of the monsters I abandoned last year.

Wraith did and does a great job making monsters, putting up a server AND managing/keeping it up do date! and i think i speak for many people here if i say that i have very much respect for him and the fact that he has given up so many spare time to make it all work the way it does right now:)
I don't want to put pressure on him, and i know these ideas may not become real deal, but there is always a chance he likes the ideas enough to process them:)

I won't wait for the day this will happen, but i would be absolutely stunned IF i saw one of these designs before me in the server:)
