Sorry, but no. You'd find yourself ridiculously overwhelmed by the higher precision that PC version has over the console, and for that among other reasons, the two don't interact in CoD4.

I think there was a similar discussion with PC vs console with UT3 somewhere.

I think Mobius answered when he said "Sorry, but no."

Some other online games are on PC and console using the same servers. It can be done, but it was not done with CoD4.

On a similar note, cross console / PC is a burden. You have to take into consideration console memory/processing limitations, user interface (like xbox live vs in game friends list) and your player base. I know I wouldn't play some games just because it's on xbox live.

Morph..just bite the bullet man...build yourself a little PC gaming rig and don't go giving your $$$ to Bill Gates...he's got enough already! ;)

nightmorph why dont you just duel boot your computer that has linux on it so you can run windows xp or vista when ever you want to play a computer game, and then run linux when ever your doing day to day things. you get the best of both worlds without having to spend any extra money.

your points are pretty poor lol. trust me im no microsoft fan boy or anything, dont get me wrong, there is plenty i dont like about microsoft. but none of your points are anywhere near a "good enough reason"...

you wouldn't need one if you had extra space on your primay, but even with that, if you did buy a second hard drive. they are absolutely DIRT cheap, you could easily pick up 300-500gb for around $50. and it would be a HELL of alot cheaper than trying to upgrade your video card yet again, OR buying a entire gaming system like xbox. plus with an additional hard drive you could use it for extra space for random crap and not just windows.

free virus scanners, free spyware scanners...very easy, self automated no work involved.

actually on the contrary, it has alot you need if your a gamer. 99.9% of games run better in a windows based OS than any other plain and simple fact. so if you ran all your games off it, not only would it benefit your COD4, it would benefit any game you decide to play now or in the future.

are you serious? in the past 12 months, i have updated my drivers a total of 1 time. it is no nightmare lol

if it was stolen you wouldn't be supporting anything...again not like im encouraging such behavior lol. but as im sure you also realize even considering bying xbox 360 will be "supporting Microsoft" WAY more than purchasing or stealing windows lol. the price comparison isn't even close, especially since once you get your xbox your going to probably be buying controllers and gadgets for it, all supporting Microsoft, and then im sure you will be purchasing such big hits like gears if war only supporting Microsoft even more. so dont make your decision on "support of an os" when the other alternative is even worse lol

i didnt say you had to like windows, or use it as your daily os, just when your gaming...think of it this way anyway, if you get xbox, it will have Microsoft os on it anyway, so either way your using a Microsoft based os lol.

Actually night is right about the drivers. Most of my games blackscreened in vista x64 when my driver needed upd between 4.27 and 4.34 or something. also my computer became insomniac and didn't sleep when i had used the graphics card/driver that reboot. But don't be discouraged, win7 is coming and it's big and better! and you can update from WinVista without formatting (HOORAAY AT LAST!)

I just don't understand.. The past three installations of Vista (I'm a neat freak. I like clean installs...) for me have been well... Effortless. It's not like it's hard. I've actually never been prompted for a driver.. I've added in HDD's, Video Cards, several wireless cards... Virtually anything I install, runs, without me having to install drivers... Plug n' Play anyone? That includes software too. It's more than fast enough. Never had a virus... All it took was... Common sense (and the free version of AVG anti-virus). I've never had an easier OS. But somehow people still have problems with Vista.

I've only had one problem that I'm not sure I was able to fix, and that is running the CoD4 modtools, which were never designed to run with Vista. I could be wrong though, I've gotten the tools working, but I'm not sure that they are working correctly.

And while I believed you at first, I now doubt that you've ever used Windows based on this comment.

I would much rather pay for Windows and not worry about whether or not it would work, then get Linux for free and buy uber hardware just to get it to run basic programs, or simply be in your situation I guess.

That's a myth made up by those running something other than Windows, to justify not using Windows. And even then, I'm sure Mac and Linux and everything else really would have just as many issues with malware if anyone really cared to try to write stuff to harass such a tiny group of users. As I've said, I installed a program after I installed Vista, (which was free btw) and never have had a problem.
