Black Ops low FPS, Need Help.

I dont not know why but i keep getting crap for FPS on this game. I get about 10-30 FPS only, sometimes as low as 5 and seen it only go up to 50 max once. I did all the tuning on the game to try and increase my FPS. Also did the Graphics settings as the post in this forum suggested. Even when i turn everything to minumum (Graphic settings, and resolution) I see no improvement at all. I have all my drivers up to date and cant figure out wtf is wrong. Of course i do not have the Top of the line graphics card but it should be able to push out more then this. On COD4 i can easily get over 300fps. Its sort of ruining the game for me. My game keep lagging when another team player pops around the corner to shoot me,and i cant hit him back. I check and it wasnt my internet connection, because its the same in single player. And everytime it lags i notice it happens when my FPS drops below 10. So any help would be greatly appreiciated.
P.S. I have the Nvidia GTX 470.

				Army,
Have you tried typing in the console
/com_maxfps 75 or 125 or 250
I think some servers will kick you if you go to 250 but I have my GTX 460's set to 125 and even then they still drop to 70 fps sometimes. I do get a solid 90-91 fps though.
Hope this helps and if I find anything else I'll post it. I know there are config files you can download to try and improve performance but I wouldn't download someone elses congif files.

				Try setting the following:
In console:
   /r_multithreaded_device 1
or in the config_mp.cfg:
   seta r_multithreaded_device 1
It made a huge difference to my system (Core i5 750 + GTX 460 SE)
Snaggle.

You may try benchmarking your card and see if it's up to specs.
Also I know both me and skittles rolled back to box drivers. When updating drivers it had horrible consequences. I am using ATI believe him to be the same.

Also, make sure r_multigpu is set to 0
though, if you've already discovered the 'multithreaded' setting you probably have already done this.
You may want to post your config_mp.cfg (suitably sanitized) so we take a gander.
BTW, what's your CPU/motherboard/Windows setup?
Snaggle.

Yes that also. What we are seeing I think is that this game operates differently for everyone and what fixes one may not fix another. Anti-aliasing fixed me.
Doing a quick search, sounds like you did. Reveals alot of people with the same problems.
Did you try all these..

Also if it comes down to it you can try what I did. Going through each and every setting , starting with recommended , keeping a log and changing them one by one. Playing and noting differences. It may be a combination of things that get you running.
Also here is a interesting post. His fix is down toward the bottom .

Also, try running memtest86+ with and without that 1GB stick in there. It worries me that it's only 333MHz and only 1GB. You may find that your memory throughput stats (Memory MB/s) in memtest86+ show a major difference without that in there. Unless you absolutely *must* have the extra gig I'd suggest running with only 6GB. I assume that you are running either Vista 64 or Win7 64 given that amount of memory.
With or without that 1GB stick in there I don't believe you are getting the full data rate given that the banks are mismatched.
Memtest86+ is available most places and is also available as a boot option on most Linux LiveCD's these days.
Snaggle.

Oh! One other thing that springs to mind -- CPU affinity. Since you are on a Dual Core you may want to change the affinity for the black ops program. You can get to the affinity via the taskmgr (after you have started black ops) by right clicking on the black ops exe program. Try changing it from no affinity -> 1 CPU -> 2 CPU's and see how it performs.
Just a thought.
