after 5 months of continue use of your pc or laptop (with an internet conection and web-browsing habilities) you are just wasting computer resourses anyway.. Just like a bus would get slower going uphill while on it's way picking up more and more people, untill it gets full ,then it won't move at all anymore.. Computers need a complete clean up., unload and reload every now and then to be healty and performing as good as new.. For my own XP and PoV , a pc is never the same after you 'clean it' of spyware with any software for these matter..it's just not the same and you can notice that, but your happy the symtoms are 'not as bad anymore' so you leave it alone and live with it.. but this just acomulates over time and then it just becomes the full bus.. ugly I tell you.. let's love our equipment and keep it healty.. it deserves attention.

Glad the problem is under control. Like Namu said, you of course don't want to run 2 or more spy checkers at once (as in active/realtime scans). But as Karma said the different progs do compliment eachother (each finding different problems). That being said here is another that I have used to compliment Ad aware and others.

Of course Alpha is right -- the most complete solution is a backup and reinstall, giving the PC a fresh start. It also clears out all the junk that isn't spyware but is no longer needed or being used. But of course this option is a pain in the arse.
