Anyone planning on showing up? Participation has been severely down lately. I would imagine that finals and PS3/Wii are cutting into UT time as well as GoW.

Finals. I'm getting them for the first time this year, and I must admit, the ability to raise my grades a letter grade or two in one test sounds real appealing... (to people that are good at taking tests, like me.) Um. I may be able to be there on Saturday, it'd be nice if that was the TAM thingy but I forget when that is.

Sadly, this is the 3rd practice in a row where only one or two people turned up on the Scrim server. And last Satruday's Scrim was a complete bust.

Last night we had: me on Scrim & Vent. Wail was on vent ready to abandon his SV ONS game if anyone showed up. And Wraith was kind enough to jump in and help the Blue bots whomp my ass while we were waiting (in vain) for others to show. Thanks mate. :blackeye:

<random thoughts>
It's looking like the twice a week schedule is not going to work as people seem to be burning-out on ONS altogether. And with people attending school, working, on holidays, following football, playing new consoles, etc. it looks like we are going to be losing more and more people. Pity.

Hornet mentioned Invasion. With DW now playing ONS on a much higher level, both comeptitively & socially, I can see why the DW guys are using TAM & RPG/INV as their 'down-time'. And with the decidedly lack-lustre turnout for the practices I can also see why the SVA's are not even bothering.

The TAM mixer was a huge success. Maybe having the practices & Scrims be more of an 'occasion' is the answer?

Greetings all! :flower:

In response to Snaggle's random thoughts...here's my two cents worth...

The downturn in attendance hasn't been unexpected, I guess I was being more hopeful than anything that things would still be viable, even at a lower level of attendance. The term "practice" has likely added the wrong note of obligation to what is supposed to be, in the end, a fun time for everyone and not some onerous task to be completed. So....what do you SVAs think of just going to a once a week more informal style get together? I'd pick Saturday's...same time of 8:00pm Central. And perhaps we could add an extra day prior to the "official" scrims for a quick refresher. Your thoughts??

As far as what we play...personally I don't want to give up on ONS just yet. The teamwork, vehicles, strategy and competition are what drew me to UT and to Spam Vikings in the first place. But I also know I'm not overly fond of playing ONS with a bunch of bots...so we could continue as we have in the past and reach a consensus about what and where to play depending on how many of us show up.

Don't know exactly what happened regarding the last "official" DW/SVA scrim. I think perhaps it was partly my fault for not being around enough to keep interest levels high...partly the draw of new game boxes and the RPGI servers....partly real life intruding into our game time! ::shrugs:: In any event, I really hope that we can continue to do these.....wether it's an ONS fest or a TAM tourney! I know I benefit from gaming against the DWs...and it's way too much fun to let it fall by the wayside!

Having said that...I know I also benefit from gaming with the DWs!!!
So if/when we switch to an informal get together once a week...what ever day it may be....DWs please know that you're always more than welcome to drop in and hand us our heads...silver platters, please!! ;) Or we can mix it up and let the usual mayhem ensue!! :cheers:

On a personal note...
I'll be boxing up the computer here in Indiana in the next day or two and will be out of touch until sometime late next week. Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to mixing it up with you guys on the server when I get back! A great big hug and loads of thanks for those of you who've kept in touch or spared a thought for me and my family over the last several weeks. I am truly indebted to you all....
